One of my biggest fears in county was not being fed and getting forgotten
Like if Covid killed everyone
And we had to go 60 100 plus days locked in the cell alone
No food
No one entering the jail because of a plague outbreak

But once you start coming to grip that you are going to get fed and you do get 3 meals a day

It’s weird shit that makes it hard
Like a guy that goons in your cell
Or the mother hen that makes new rules daily who’s also the guy that breaks rules regularly and stays high on medicine with the ability to sleep like 18 hours a day
He would get a plate of food he knows he isn’t going to eat put it beside his bed and wait like 9 hours for it to get old then the instant he knows it’s old ask you if you want it no sooner
Or even something like a guy that snaps or claps in his sleep all night long

Shit you could never come up with in a million years
But right there not 10 feet away someone is doing it daily

And the food it’s not even bad like most of it is hella good
The food you can get in county is better than most food you get when ur out free
I look forward to when I’m 62 and I can get on meals for the elderly
But if I could pay monthly or have a government program to get county food I’d be on it day one especially if they delivered 3 meals a day to my house
If county wasn’t so far out of town
And county had a food court area
I’d 100% go there to eat almost daily

I can go to the church and get 2 free meals at lunch
But I’m not even lying when I say county food is better than the church food lol

I like how at Shannon behavioral you get like 3 meal choices but if you don’t want those you have a list of things you can request. I wouldn’t even look at the menu I would go straight for 2 ham and cheese sandwiches
You don’t get the choice in county

But when basically anything you want to cook or buy fast food delivery a food truck literally anything is going to be $25-40 for 1 single meal out of the day
It’s pretty ridiculous
You want a sandwich with mayo and lettuce cheese meat it’s $30
You want a burger from a food truck $20
You want enough Taco Bell to fill you up $25
You want a steak with salt pepper butter $25
You want tacos $25
You want a pizza $30
You want stew with stew meat carrots celery onion $38
Cook hamburgers at your house $25

It’s fking ridiculous

You get hotdogs with bread or instant noodles
And they’re both about $2

Wtf WTH isn’t there more food that can fill me up for under $5
You can do a McDouble or a 4 for 4 and that’s about it

It sure is a weird economy when spending $20 on a burger is about the cheapest thing you can get
And anything you cook is going to be $25+ so don’t even think about cooking your own food because that’s a luxury
Used to be cheaper to cook but not anymore

I’m so used to ordering something for $13 or $15 and thinking I may have something I can regularly order
Then still being hungry after I eat it and thinking I’m never going to get that again
All I’ve said after I’ve ordered food for the last 2 years is I’m never getting that again
The only thing I’ve found actually worth it is $13 pozole from a place called corner stop #2 but of course they close at 3pm so it’s too early to ever get there
I can get full on menudo but that’s like $25
A super supreme pizza can last 2 days but that’s $30
I like to buy t-bones that’s my cheat spoil meal it’s $15 a steak

With the price of food being like anything under 20 isn’t going to get you full
Something 25 can fill you up
30 could last 2 days
I don’t feel bad at all going to the church to eat for free getting whatever they serve that day
Stew can last several days it really only goes as far as how much meat you get
At $10 a pound 2 pounds is 22 then you add the vegetables and it’s easy $35 and that’s like 3 maybe 4 if you ration the meat then you want 3 pounds it’s damn near $50 that’s ridiculous
Then you’re eating 5 day old meat from the fridge
It turns a different color it get a different texture

The food price skyrocketing really makes you consider your next meal

I remember when I was a kid and I could go to town & country and get a bbq sandwich that was so big I would struggle to eat half then pass out asleep then wake up and eat the other half and be full for hours
For like $5
I also remember cokes were $1 and you could get free cokes
Or you could go to the Coca Cola factory and get cans for 25 cents bottles for 50 cents

Now they want $3.25 for 1 bottle
